Liquid Emotions

Water beckons me to photograph it with powers of seduction that I cannot resist. This series of images started as a natural response to that call, a sensual exploration of light, shape, texture and color, all of it encapsulated in small fragments of the aquatic landscapes of the Yucatan Peninsula. In time, as I continued working on these images, they also took my mind back to the work of master photographer Alfred Stieglitz, who created his famous Equivalent Series of cloud pictures between 1922 and 1935. Those were black and white images, while these are very much an exploration of color, but perhaps they share a common intent: to connect with the viewer's inner visual experience by offering objective representations of reality that may open gateways to personal emotions.

EMOCIONES LÍQUIDAS
El agua me induce a fotografiarla con poderes de seducción que no logro resistir. Esta serie de imágenes comenzó como respuesta natural a ese llamado, una exploración sensual de luz, forma, textura y color, todo ello encapsulado en pequeños fragmentos de paisajes acuáticos en la Península de Yucatán. Con el tiempo, al continuar trabajando con estas imágenes, mi mente viajó hacia el trabajo del maestro Alfred Stieglitz, quien creó entre 1922 y 1935 su famosa serie de fotografías de nubes en una serie que tituló "Equivalentes". Aquellas era fotografías en blanco y negro, estas son en gran medida una exploración del color, pero quizás comparten una intención común: conectar con la experiencia visual interna de quien las mira al ofrecer representaciones objetivas de la realidad que pueden abrir portales hacia emociones personales.
